A Lesson in Witch Hunting

When a village farmer captures a supposed witch, professional hunter Liddy expects curses, potions, and dark magic. Instead, the accused woman is a teacher whose suspicious crimes include reading, writing, philosophy, and bergamot tea. As the evidence grows more ridiculous, Liddy starts asking who actually benefits from the accusation. The farmer wants a quick execution, his son repeats everything he has been told, and Margaret is running out of patience. Liddy plays along with the panic long enough to test the claims, trace the dead neighbor’s land, and decide what kind of monster this village really needs hunted.
